"Every Which Way #1"
This piece is one of a new and ongoing series of works using Conté Carré (square) hard crayons on intentionally folded and creased art paper. There is almost a necessity to view these folded works with side-lighting, so the subtle three-dimensional nature of the folded paper reveals itself with tonal changes between the random angular planes in either light or shadow depending on the direction of the light source. My primary influence with this series is from the old fortification designs of Vauban (1633-1707), the French general and engineer who planned the defenses of many strategic towns in France and Germany. Here, the obvious design of the defensive walls have been breached and sectioned to create a confusing maze... a chaotic nightmare for both attacking and defending forces if this situation was reality!

Thanks Daniel... I'm new here and still feeling my way around. However, I'm in serious production mode (whilst many others are maybe partying at this time of year - LOL) so will have more work to upload in a few days. Must look at this "group" system too and join in!
